In this work, I wanted to capture not only the presence of the bird itself, but the feeling of being seen in return. Painted in flowing black and white watercolour with layered drips and expressive movement, the work reflects the contrast often carried by the Magpie — light and shadow, perception and reflection, instinct and knowing.”
